Join a community
We all thrive in the company of our peers. During your teacher training you are surrounded with encouragement. Emerging from that supportive environment can be daunting and isolating. Your knowledge is still fresh and translating what you’ve learnt into valuable classes for your students is both exciting and a responsibility.
Our yoga teacher mentorship program continues that support through the most vital stage of your journey. We invite newly trained yoga instructors across the globe to collaborate, connect and master the art of teaching with the guidance of an experienced mentor.
The value of mentorship
Continue your yoga teaching journey on the right foot with the guidance of a master teacher.
Your 200 hour yoga teacher training will have given you the knowledge of basic yoga foundations – however, your initial training is just the beginning.
Under the wings of experienced master teacher Susan Allen you will learn to:
- Teach a more holistic practice; one that is well grounded in the body, mind and spirit as opposed to a primarily physical practice – in this way you can offer a truly life transformative gift to your students
- Refine your asana sequencing to create a greater impact within your classes – learn to create effective themed classes to move the body, breath, and mind in a chosen direction
- Have the opportunity to reflect on your 200 hour training in depth and ask questions to a master teacher
- Develop and refine your teaching cues so they are precise and impactful
- Learn to teach without demonstrating – enabling you to be more observant of your students so that the cues you give are relevant; it also enables you to be more interactive in the class and give hands-on assists if required
- Develop your own personal practice in the areas of asana, pranayama, and meditation
- Deepen your own practice to enable you to pass on your personal insights to your students.
Why mentorship is better than the traditional 300 hour courses
As yoga teachers, there’s always an opportunity to go deeper into our practice. There are many avenues for learning and once you have the necessary tools to teach, mentoring provides you with the confidence to flourish.
Our tailored yoga mentorship approach is collaborative by nature and seeks to understand your unique situation and challenges. By working with you to explore professional growth opportunities, we customise our framework to deliver personalised, meaningful yoga mentorship – not just coursework for the sake of it.
Exceptional mentorship supports your growth in a way that is unique to your style. Direct feedback and support throughout your sessions is integral for building confidence allowing you to develop your craft and stand out as a teacher in your community.
Why consider mentorship?
Mentoring with a master teacher provides you with a clear path to professional development. You will receive personalised guidance on topics ranging from your personal practice, to your teaching skills, to how to move forward with your yoga career.
Our master teacher Susan Allen has over two decades of yoga practice, teaching, and guidance, and credits her most meaningful growth to the gift of mentoring from the world-class master teachers she has been fortunate enough to study with over the years.
Susan has run multiple yoga studios, teacher trainings, immersions, and retreats, and brings all of this experience to her mentoring. Harnessing her practical and technical skillset, she understands and teaches yoga pragmatically, creating a safe and collaborative space for personal development. She disseminates what she has learnt in easy to digest modules which cover both personal and professional growth goals.
Develop your yoga teaching style with mentorship
While your 200 hour teacher training would have touched on the basic teaching methodology, given the depth of the subject, there is always more to learn – and it takes concerted effort to gain a deep understanding of such a varied and extensive skillset. There are a vast number of teaching elements we help our professional yoga teacher clients develop.
At The Yoga Transition we celebrate individuality through:
- Diving deeper into teaching methodology and different styles
- Steering your practice and teaching in the direction that most interests you
- Encouraging you to discover your unique voice.
Once you have completed your initial teacher training, contact us to find out how mentorship can bring you to the next level.
